The World Won’t Listen

There was a time in my life when I couldn’t imagine that my favorite song of all time would ever been anything but the Beatles’ “I Am the Walrus.” While that didn’t change at the precise moment I heard “There is a Light that Never Goes Out” for the first time, it did, eventually, change.

Found this treasure at an obscure CD shop called ST MusicWorld at Shaw Towers, along Beach Road.

Made my weekend.

You know what? Much as I like this, I think I still prefer the darkly abrupt ending of “I’ll sail this ship alone”. I can hear a gunshot, a thud — the discrete moment of something dropping dead.

the world wont listen is actually a compilation album of some singles, some b-sides, and some unreleased tracks. At that time it was more of a US-targeted release, as the Smiths were unknown in the US in 1986.

Theres a light …, for eg, appeared first in their 4th album The Queen is Dead.

Just showing off my Smiths knowledge :)
