Happy Birthday to Me

Sweetheart Egg Meenseen

Yesterday was my birthday, so today mom came over and cooked tong sum dan meen seen (hence sweetheart or more literally, sugar heart) for us. It used to be a birthday tradition. My paternal grandma would cook it for us on our birthdays. Now since no-one’s ever home on their birthdays, we all eat it together on one day — my birthday.
