Monstrous Cookies

Oatmeal Cookies

Oatmeal Cookies

Jo and I made cookies from Martha Stewart’s Holiday Cookies. We made the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie (swapped the raisins for choc chips), Double Chocolate Decadence and the Stained Glass Cookie. The stained glass which was disastrous— they were more like just stains, but the cookie itself tasted quite good. But we didn’t roll it out thinly enough (1/8” was recommended), but it ended up quite bricky.

Would’ve taken more photos but the camera ran outta batteries.

I baked the same Oatmeal Raisin Cookies from that Holiday edition last month as well.. They ended up being the size of my face, and ridiculously sweet. Gotta love Martha, though.

Can give Josh some on Friday so we can eat? :D:D:D

Too bad, I’ve already polished the whole lot myself! But I’m gonna bake some more though. Not much else I can do with the 1kg bag of oatmeal sitting at home.

Lisiepeasie, yes they do spread a lot. You can try chilling the dough before baking them to see if it gets better. Hey, so did you go on the Arab Street outing with the rest of the craftsters?

Leftover oatmeal isn’t a problem with this recipe, imo. What am I going to do with a near-full jar of wheatgerm?!

And yeap. Went to Arab St with the others. Pretty surreal, everybody was lamenting about the amount of craft junk they they didn’t have the discipline to stop buying more.. Heh.

Hehe, I substituted the wheatgerm with yet more oatmeal. Yeah, tell me about crafty junk.

Posted by: Karen at December 22, 2005 12:16 PM

Hey, I’ve tried it with the wheatgerm and without. it’s not the same. wheatgerm = good. wheatgerm rocks. Everyone should bake oatmeal cookies with wheatgerm.

Which reminds me, anyone know what cornmeal is?

Posted by: David at December 22, 2005 03:48 PM

I dunno exactly what cornmeal is, but I use it in my cornmeal parmesan biscotti. It looks like ground corn, like yellow flour.

Hi Kisane, I think I might make a batch for personal consumption, but I might end up too lazy to do it. Heh.

Yet another Oatmeal Raisin Cookie

Innovative Cookie Project

Ask Metafilter about icing. I wanna try a fluffy icing which stays fluffy.

Made these oatmeal cookies again last weekend. This time I used wheatgerm. It really did make a difference.

I tweaked the recipe. Used more oatmeal and flour.

The texture was just nice. It was not too flat. But the tiny scoop I used to shape the dough was too small. I would’ve to use a bigger scoop so that the cookies fit my plastic carriers nicely.
