Rocking November!

While Karen seems to have blogger’s block, I seem to have just too many things to post. The case of the absent host doesn’t seem that bad after all. (I hope)

IdN is back again and this time with IdN DesignEdge Conference & Expo 2005. It is also the kick-off event for the inaugural Singapore Design Festival 2005. Speakers from UV/Phactory, U.N.K.L.E, The Designers Republic, Surrender and more will be gracing the stage.

Local speakers include Earn Chen and uhm, Mixed Reality Lab, who did their page in *gasp* Comic Sans. This year’s conference seems to be geared more towards the “street” culture, as opposed to last year where we had speakers like Mother, Alan Chan and Devil Robots. But hey, I get a 2 full-day conference + 3-day Expo pass for just 90bucks! The perks of being a student :D

Also, RES Singapore kicks off at the brand new 388-seat Academy Theatre at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts from 25 - 27 November. And at DesignEdge, hosting a 45min preview screening session, hand picked from The Best of RESFEST 2005.

This is really rocking november!

Mixed Reality Lab… Comic Sans! wtf? I thought people don’t put “Made on a Mac”, “Best with Netscape 4” buttons anymore? wtf!

there’s a bit of space on their main landing page between the “Powered by Xserve” button and the NTU logo… they could squeeze in a spinning globe or a 3D ‘@’ sign to complete the pre-1997 look.

wah lau eh, i’m in an uncontrollable laughing fit lah.

Give them a break la, these guys are scientists and engineers, not designers. That said, that’s why you pay people to do these things.

To be really wicked, for a good laugh, go to the website, go to People and scroll down until you see who’s responsible for designing the website. Apparently she “masters” Photoshop and Flash.

But, why are they speaking at an international design conference then :(

Posted by: Randy at August 31, 2005 11:11 PM

OMG!!! Wait till you see her actual works! It’s a must-see. Look what she did with Flash. They’re like gif animations! ROTFLOL.

omg!! what was IdN thinking inviting them? anyway, looks like novemeber’s gonna be an expensive month. IdN + RESFEST = $$$$

Eh.. I’d rather go for Resfest than IdN at this rate.

And I don’t really know if I want to see Karen ROTFLOLing when I start work later this month…

> And I don’t really know if I want to see Karen ROTFLOLing when I start work later this month…

Hey! What’s that supposed to mean?

But don’t worry. I have split personality: No laughing during work.

It’s entirely miserable.

Has anyone gotten the mailer for IDN05 yet? DesignSingapore (apparently) now has a nicer logo on the back, with more personality than that DIN fest we have right now. It’d look better right-side up, though. I understand the need for it to look like a “D” but still.

comeon guys, give those engineers a break, and I really commend IdN for inviting them, as they see creativity in their engineering. Though I agree that it is a bit lame that someone can write she “masters” certain something, given what she had produced…
