London Blasts

Was having dinner today when I heard this happened.

My deepest, deepest sympathies and condolences to everyone in London who reads this. My heart goes out especially to those who have lost someone, as well as those who have gotten injured. I know how it feels to lose a loved one, and do know that the rest of the world mourns with you.

To those that have passed away - Rest In Peace. Justice will be served.

> Justice will be served.

Justice comes from balance, not imperialism.

Hi Hrant.

Been awhile since you commented.

Didn’t really mean it as justice on earth. But we shall not go into religion now shall we :)

Do you mean US imperialism, Hrant?

Randy, if Materialism is a religion (“In God We Trust” is on the bills after all) how we can avoid talking about religion? Justice is a two-way street.

Karen, I would call it Western imperialism (with the UK, and formerly Spain, being a puppet regime of the US). You know though, it wouldn’t be as bad and annoying if so many non-Westerners weren’t blindly cheering it on. Imperialism can be seen as natural and unavoidable; but fooling ourselves about its results is just irresponsible.

Concerning “innocent victims”, I have to wonder: can there really be any in a democracy, I mean among voting adults? When you vote for a government that you think will probably end up bombing people who have no say at all in the decisions of their political masters, are you really Innocent? Kerry, Bush, same difference really. Freedom of Choice my big fat behind. And is it crazy to say that democracy encourages terrorism? Look at Spain. Personally, I refuse to vote; that’s the least I can do for all the truly innocent people on this planet, on both sides.

2 wrongs does not make it right, neither will sitting on the fence help

Hey Hrant / Josh, I accidentally deleted your comments when I was clearing spam this morning. Can you post them again? Thanks.

{This is somewhat different than I wrote the first time.}

Sheryl, I agree. But more than laying blame, we should think about how to reduce world injustice, because that’s the key. So yes, do take sides: take the side of decent human behavior. And implicitly supporting the financially profitable rape, murder and enslavement of peoples in far away lands is not decent. When you participate in a society, when you care about it, you are partly responsible for its actions. Like your brother or sister.

Quite clearly, we’re not known for our political commentary.

Hrant, agree on that. but thinks that reducing world injustice should start from the home. thinks some people are so concerned about happenings in other parts of the world that they neglect their own behaviour and what they can contribute to their country and neighbours.

Karen, consider yourself lucky.
