Things to do before i die
I was hoping I could come up with 10, but at the moment, 5’s the best i can muster. In no particular order …
1. Dine at El Bulli
2. Complete a marathon
3. Spend a night or two at the Ice Hotel in Sweden
4. Visit Old Trafford
5. Watch Morrissey live in concert
Never thought coming up with 10 would be that tough!
Posted by Jimmy at June 3, 2005 11:32 PM in miscellaneousummm…am guessing not the simple pleasures then….
am personally more akin to a:-
1) a comforting bowl of ba chor mee..
2) watching a funny movie
waitaminit..you’re talking about 10 gloriously beautiful spectaculars, aren;t you?, not the actual 24 hours preceding the big event….hmm….i try again…
[in a deep, confident voice]
10 things to do before i die….
1) Norway: cross country skiing - just you, a pair of skis and the vast whiteness of everything else…
2) NY, USA: the other melting pot of the world
3) Egypt: Pyramids, heiroglyphics, ‘The Mummy’, icons from a bygone era, a whole new old language to explore
4) that bungee thang - doi yao yao yao yao! : http://www.traveldish.com/features/getphysical/bunjee.htm
5) have a scandalously expensive Japanese dinner; and since we’re there—might as well head back to Himeji-jo….
6) head over to the Europes and pick up a bucket load of graphic novels—yes yes, the hard cover large format beauties with unsurpassed illustrations both in styles and quality. Moebius….
[you are right!,,,,difficult to post ten yah?]
7) Aussie beaches; nuff said…
8) take a train from an Eastern Europe country of choice and make it all the way through the vastness of the inbetween bit and then be in time for dinner in Sichuan a month later..
9) go for Gorillaz concert
10) listen to Beatles/Stones LPs in a cottage somewhere nice and ulu….
umm..yup
that’s my contribution; think i embellished a bit too much…
Posted by: keefe at June 8, 2005 11:12 AMWow! Someone else who wants to stay a night in the Ice Hotel!! That excites me, especially because everyone else i talk to has NO idea what it is. I’ve gotten them to all want to go too now, so i can die feeling accomplished because MAYBE someone I know will carry out one of my dreams…
Posted by: Candis at June 8, 2005 04:27 PMnice ones Keefe … always wondered about cross country skiing though. What happens if you need to pee in the middle of nowhere at -20 degrees? Whip it out? Frostbite how?
Posted by: jimmy at June 8, 2005 09:47 PMidea,.,,,
maybe they have contraption doohickeys to solve that…
my friend had very kindly given me a ‘Kvikk Lunsj’ once—it translates semi directly to a ‘Quick Lunch’ and that’s what they makan whilst in the middle of nowhere…and the reverse side of wrapping has maps for the more popular skiing slopes!!
have a peek at its classic design here:-
