The Great Procrastinators

The boys took so long to send in their author bios, that I was tempted to write my own. And it started, “Ernest is ernest and randy is.” So you see, it’s a good thing I didn’t continue and they decided to hurry up and send me these:

Randy says “Design is life. I grew up on music, Manchester United, and a strong passion and interest in Muay Thai. I love minimalism, above the line advertising, copywriting, photography, typography and grid systems in graphic design. I listen to music from Def Leppard to Death Cab For Cutie to DJ Valium. Good beer, good music, good company and a packet of Marlboro make my night. I dream of taking over the world, being a rock star and being a Jedi. Oh, and I’m addicted to The O.C.”

Ernest says he’s “born year of the tiger. Strong interests in typography and European graphic design. Loves old cameras. Crazy about sneakers. Hobbies include air drumming and surfing YayHooray!”

Favourite fonts: FF DIN, Georgia, Akzidenz Grotesk, Mrs Eaves

They are Visual Communications students who interned at Manic for the last 8 weeks and contributed great posts such as this, this and this. With them around, Snog Blog is going to be more schizophrenic than ever. In a good way, of course.

Ernest, you’re the only 18 year old I know who starts a self-introduction by telling people what your animal sign is. That’s so old school man, gotta love it.

Come to think of it, you 2 are the only 18 year olds I know.

telling people what your animal sign is upfront is, i suppose, part of the importance of being ernest.

*hur hur*

and soccernet wasn’t properly linked on randy’s list.

:)

You HAD to check that one out didn’t you Jaffry :)

Anyway, I’ve fixed it.

Terrible! I did that one purpose! Heh! Thought it was a good prank for all you soccer hooligans.

Posted by: Karen at May 27, 2005 11:48 AM

my little prank of linking soccernet to a liverpool article didn’t really rile the man u fan.

i can’t make it as a hooligan/yob if no one pays attention, you know.

Oh. Haha, I didn’t notice you did that, scouser!

But I have to say that was an awesome performance by Liverpool. I give credit when credit is due. But United should make a double swoop for Gerrad and Alonso.

And at least Chelski didn’t win :D

I reallly should stop now, because anymore and Karen will personally kick my butt and have my Snog Blog account removed.

Hmm, can anyone identify the font on Sagmeister.com?

I’m thinking it could be Neutra.. or at least it’s the closest I can get. It’s been bugging me the whole afternoon, esp. since I have a presentation on him in a few days time. Heh.

Think you might have better luck with FF Super Grotesk. Everything matches up, except the proportions of the characters. So close, but no cigar.

Posted by: Karen at June 19, 2005 02:22 PM

I think its Neutra, managed to get it to look alike while doing my powerpoint presentation. Not like the teachers in IT school would spot the difference, if any :D

Posted by: Randy at June 19, 2005 04:42 PM

It’s definitely not Neutra. The apex of Neutra’s A is pointed and the cross-bar in the H is below the vertical centre, ditto for the E. I’ll have a look at his book when I get into the office on Monday.

If you ask me though, I’d say if you’re gonna use only uppercase, use Neutraface anytime. The uppercase is beautiful.
