Wurf Songs At My Wedding

Ah, every now and then, a particular song would make me feel warm and fuzzy inside and I think to myself that I’d like that to be played at my wedding. I’m gonna start a thread just so I won’t forget and add my favourite bits of that particular song. I’ll post other songs as and when they hit me.

Add your favourite lurve songs to the comments, I might just use it a decade down the road!

First my all time favourite, What A Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

Sway - Bic Runga

I say its all because of you and here I go
Losing my control
I’m practising your name
So I can say it to your face it doesn’t seem right
To look you in the eye
And let all the things you mean to me
Come tumbling out my mouth indeed its time
Tell you why
I say its infinitely true

Say you’ll stay
Don’t come and go
Like you do
Sway my way
Yeah I need to know
All about you

You Were Meant For Me - Jewel (I play this so much on the ipod that Ernest is extremely sick of it)

Dreams last so long
Even after you’re gone
I know you love me
And soon you will see
You were meant for me
And I was meant for you

And lastly, Vincent - Don McClean

Now I understand what you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps, they’ll listen now
For they could not love you
And still your love was true
And when no hope was left inside
On that starry, starry night
You took your life as lovers often do
But I could have told you, Vincent
This world was never meant
For one as beautiful as you

for an oc wedding:

paul mccartney/jem - maybe i’m amazed

Baby I’m amazed at the way you’re with me all the time
Maybe I’m afraid of the way I leave you
Baby I’m amazed at the way you help me sing my song
You right me when I’m wrong
Maybe I’m amazed at the way I really need you

for a Real wedding:

bryan adams - please forgive me

Please forgive me - I know not what I do
Please forgive me - I can’t stop loving you
Don’t deny me - this pain I’m going through
Please forgive me - if I need you like I do
Please believe me - every word I say is true
Please forgive me - I can’t stop loving you

I was just wondering which part of the OC they played that song by Jem and it was just before Ryan went back to Chino and had a dance with Marissa. OMG SO SAD :’(

Yes, I’m an OC addict.

Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight

I feel wonderful
Because I see the love light in your eyes
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don’t realize
How much I love you

Just watched Delovely over the weekend.

Let’s Do It is definitely a wedding song too, along with the title track.

Posted by: Karen at May 24, 2005 12:26 AM

On heavy rotation yesterday, was the song from Infernal Affairs! (Scroll down to download the mp3.) The one that the triad boss’ wife (Carina Lau) used to show off her sound system.

I think the title loosely translates as Forgotten Time. It’s a great song even if you don’t understand Chinese. I hunted down the lyrics too, but they’re kinda hard.

I think I’d like it played at my funeral.

Speaking of chinese songs, I’ve been playing this one on my playlist alot recently. It called Zhi Shao Hai You Ni by Sandy Lam. Translated to mean At Least I Still Have You.

Can’t find the mp3 for it, but I’m sure it’s available via Limewire, or if you guys want I could upload it on the server.

Lyrics available in hanyupinyin and english translation. You need to register for the pinyin one though. The english one sounds cheesy but it’s sweet when sung in chinese. I think its the same for quite alot of chinese songs out there.

And speaking of Infernal Affairs, wonder why they named the Hollywood version The Departed?

There’s Leo, Marky Mark, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson, who should be Eric Tseng’s character.

So Leo is Andy Lau and Matt Damon is Tony Leung??? Hmm …

Good reason, long story.

Posted by: Randy at September 2, 2005 01:52 PM

can someone please upload the sandy lam song?

Posted by: Angel Lee at December 27, 2005 10:36 AM

erm, you do know what piracy means?

Posted by: jimmy at December 27, 2005 04:44 PM

we pick “only you” by the flying pickets … then later we opt for the more “happy” love songs like “It’s got to be you” (Connrick’s version) and “happy together” …

Didn’t really want sad weepy songs though i love them … they more for private pleasure *wriggle eyebrows*

Wanted to cut a CD too but was *erm* kinda worried about the copyright thingy that’s let loose recently … even a online street map to get your place is ‘copyrighted’ …

Posted by: diane at January 8, 2006 12:40 PM

i think the copyright law is OK if it’s not meant for commercial purposes, so as long as you’re not profiting from it, i doubt anyone will care. so a momento CD for wedding guests or a map you use on your invite card should be alright.

Posted by: jimmy at January 10, 2006 12:03 AM

hi found your blog while surfing for pineapple tart recipes :) … Wonderful World was one of my top picks for our wedding too.
