Pixel World
From veer.
As a way to study and contrast the variety of design methodologies and aesthetics used on the web, Ro London painstakingly collected 300 images from 1800 sites and organized them in broad functional groups. The icons are fascinating in being so similar, yet at the same time, so varied in their execution and interpretation. Extra bonus point: Can you spot the icons he snarfed from the Veer web site?

I find this hilarious, btw:
A man is known by the company he keeps.
A Chinese restaurant is known by the fried rice.
A website is known by the favicon.
And there’s yet more. Are there special server settings required in order to have a favicon?
And here’s a very nice post about personal dingbats, from veer as always.
