Stupid Clients

Designers love to share stupid client quotes. Some of the stories made me laugh out loud. Will post my favourites later.

But I think one of my New Year’s resolutions shall be to love my clients. Let’s see who breaks the spell.

Haha, I remember that. That’s from the defunct dreamless.org board.
“Put a landlord hat on the landlord”
priceless.

Yup, I think I might have seen it before too. It’s funny and amazing how similar clients are, the world over.

Albert Einstein: “Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I have my doubts about the former.”

1. “I really like this, but just to be sure, can you do 2 more in the same style?”

2. “Our telephone numbers on the website are not interactive enough.”

3. “Can you put a drop shadow here?”

4. “We need to include all 1000 words here. As a designer you should know how to make it less wordy.”

5. “I dont want to pay for stock images. Can I use my digital cam and take some shots for you to use?”

I forgot this one - the stupidest thing a client ever said to me:

drumroll ….

“Why is this flash work so expensive? The software only costs a few hundred dollars right?”

My client: You’re tracking is not tight enough.

!!!

Then proceeded to squash all the letters together. And get this even removed the spaces between words.

And now, a contest to make you wish your client is the dumbest of them all.

Okay, here’s my favourite;
A commisioning editor is looking over my designs for a book jacket. I get one accepted and am then told to apply their logo on spine in usual position. It’s a brown logo. I ask “what brown is that?” and the editor, quick as a flash, says “oh, that’s pantone brown” (‘pantone’ is pronounced “Paan-Toanney…”
It’s a great colour, I use it aaall the time now …
