For $1500, it better wash my car and clean my room as well!

Ha ha. And cook breakfast too!

But seriously would you buy it, if you could afford to? I thought I would, but $1,500 could get me a whole lot of typefaces. Maybe it’s just one of those faces that’ll always remain on the list, but never bought.

Have you seen Ruse? Real nice. And nice site too.

Hey Hrant. trust you to know something like that.

Do you have more of such quotes? It would be interesting to compile a list of funny typographic / design quotes.

That would be a nice little project.

Here’s another for that frigid Bodoni:
“What a crazy person would consider a very holy font.”

Dave “A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius” Eggers?

Yeah, he looks like the sort to mistake frigidity for holiness. Most people do.

Two for the Squarish Sans category, which is the latest thing I’m into right now: Dispose, the still-unreleased Epoch and I guess Oban is nice too.

A thread on DIN which I recently used for a project. I have to disagree about it being the “designer’s favourite typeface” though.

Comenius looked much better in print.

I’d like to get my hands on Hoefler Type Foundry’s Mercury News too. If only I knew how. Can’t find link. But it looks yummy in my copy of Inside Design. Used alongside Neutraface and Retina.

Admittedly, haven’t been too diligent with either posting or categorising of the links. But that’s because the search has just become retarded and needs a good kick in the head.

Here then is a collection of famous quotes from type designers..

My favourite one is from Hrant:
“Watching me work is like watching a refrigerator make ice.”
- M Carter”

Hey Karen,

I really love your site, I’ve been checking it regularily for a few years now and have found it so helpful, especially your typography sections. I was wondering what font you use for the main body copy of your site? it is really lovely! Also I was wondering if you knew of another font similar to Alfon that might be a bit cheaper to buy or even free?

Thanks for your help and thanks for all the great info you share with us all!
