The Letter Series
This is my most misplaced link. I can never find it when I need it. So here it is for safekeeping.
A series of articles on the development of the alphabet.

i really enjoyed reading the Letter Series. i haven’t read it all yet of course…
the following is brought to you by the letter B:
“From the square house, the B grew into one of the most beautiful letters of our alphabet.”
i’m curious. what do you think? what’s your fav letter?

Posted by: elijah at October 3, 2003 01:54 PMMy favourite letters are lowercase g and uppercase q. I just like curves and descenders I guess.
Q is definitely an all-time favourite, even though I’m suspicious of the tail originating from a monkey story.
g, maybe because I saw a really nice one yesterday while “studying” my fontbook. It’s called Envy, but I can’t find an online sample. The g and q, both upper and lowercase are really nice.
I don’t like K because it is too straight. Even the lowercase is all angular and poky. But I’m looking for a nice one.
Posted by: Karen at October 3, 2003 02:29 PMi think s looks mean
z looks like it’s up to no good but i don’t think its as crafty as e
C seems oh so very bored but i think c can be a bit petulant
g looks like a playful kid but G seems the opposite
and i think its quite obvious that K doesn’t give much away
i don’t know what letter i like but i know that my fav number is 7.
Posted by: elijah at October 4, 2003 08:53 AMThere is a Sexiest Letter Pageant going on over at typophile.
Someone agrees with you that z is wicked.
And someone thinks that the lowercase k “is pretty hot”!
I’ll have to look again.
Isn’t it funny how letters have personalities?
